How to Move Forward Without Getting Stuck
Be a doer, not just a dreamer
Sometimes you’re floating downstream in the lazy river—life is just kinda happening around you.
Perhaps your routine is quite comfortable. If nothing else, predictable.
Maybe you feel like a side character in someone else’s life story—your kids, your center-of-attention spouse, your company’s mission statement.
You don’t feel like you’re the one pulling the strings. The things you want—free time, purpose, adventure, whatever—are being held hostage, and there doesn’t appear to be any room for negotiation.
So you keep floating downstream.
Time flies by.
Or maybe it drags.
Either way, you spend a lot of it dreaming.
Dreaming about having a life that aligns with your pleasure, true potential, or even your health.
But.
Those dreams do not materialize.
You find that:
Your sprawling interests excite you but concrete action is rare
You spin your wheels concocting “what if” scenarios that lead to nowhere
You unconsciously dismiss opportunities—like swatting away flies
You doubt your ability to handle big, life-altering changes
You don’t know how to negotiate the terms of your own life
It’s a heavy, dream-crushing predicament to find yourself in.
As I write this, I’m filled with empathy because I’ve been there many times.
I know what it’s like to feel painfully stuck and wonder if this is as good as it gets—like all the good in life has an expiration date, and my time is up.
But I’m a stubborn person, so I’ve had to re-learn many times that this is untrue.
So take a breath with me. Long and slow...
Sit up straight and pull your shoulders back.
Listen carefully.
You do not need all the answers on how to achieve your wildest dreams—whether it’s in your relationships, career, globetrotting adventures, or mid-life self-discovery—in order to get started and stay committed.
You don’t need a 20-step action plan that alleviates all the uncertainties.
You don’t need to worry about how you’ll deal with all the scary growing pains that’ll come next month, next year, or in 10 years.
ALL the inner mind drama about why you can’t get started and ALL the distractions that thwart your efforts to make progress are completely, 100% solvable problems.
Solvable like how simple math equations are solvable.
So even though you want to believe that the answer is highly complicated and requires an advanced degree to understand…
The answer is really undramatic.
All you need to do is take really small steps, one at a time, at the pace of your nervous system.
Not the pace that society says is “right.” Not the pace that your sister-in-law reinvented herself. Not the pace of yourself from 5 years ago.
You ONLY need to concern yourself with the pace required to take your next smallest step in each and every moment.
Because here’s the thing.
Your brain can only focus on one thing at a time.
You don’t build a business overnight. You slowly, gradually, incrementally create it. One brick at a time.
And!
Very important point.
Your nervous system capacity to take bigger, bolder steps will grow over time.
Such as, your capacity to:
Tolerate (and even become comfortable with) rejection and “failure”
Take on more responsibility and risks
Be visible, judged, and critiqued
Show people who you really are
Adapt to new situations
Be deeply present, self-trusting, and alive in your pleasure
Your capacity to do all of this and more is exponential growing, kinda like how computing power is exponentially growing.
There’s no limit to your nervous system capacity.
To do what you need to do to make shit happen.
That includes setting boundaries, speaking your truth, and being unapologetic about asking for what you want.
One small step at a time.
Is it really that simple?
I know you have a lot working against you—toxic beliefs you hold about yourself, past failures that haunt you, and anecdotal stories that “prove” it’s not possible to change your life.
I want to assure you that you’re not incompetent, uniquely cursed, or pathologically lazy.
But you might be getting in your own way.
That’s what my Life Coaching program is designed to address.
If you want to reprogram how you think, feel, and behave towards your wildest dreams, I’m your gal.
Let’s chat to see if my Coaching is right for you.
